Customer Barcode and CBC

For mailing of 4000 items or more, significant discounts can be obtained on postage costs. To qualify for these discounts (of up to 30% or more), the mailing needs to be processed enabling the items to be sorted using machinery.

One way for machines to sort mail is to use a customer barcode (CBC) which is printed onto the item. Low Cost Mailing has CBC readers installed on our addressing and inserting lines, enabling mailings to be sorted using printed barcodes.

A very high percentage of mail items can be processed correctly first time using CBC and the barcode itself can be generated to include almost any information required, such as Postcode, date, batch number, individual id number etc.

UK Mail providers such as Royal Mail have CBC readers installed on their sorting lines, and this parity of equipment enables the large postal cost savings to be passed on.

Other Barcode Formats

Low Cost Mailing are capable of printing and reading a wide range of different barcode formats in addition to CBC. Many different barcode types can be used for matching mail items in a multiple item mailings.
